This short-lived sudser ended with a bang, specifically with hotelier Santiago Mendoza being shot in the tunnels of the Riviera Grand, which would have been the main focus of Season 2. “I’ve toyed a lot with various ideas about who it could have been, but honestly, I keep changing my mind,” showrunner Brian Tanen told TVLine. “I really like the idea that someone is arrested who did not do the crime, and a lot of Season 2 would be about trying to clear their name.” Other would-be storylines included Danny and Alicia moving forward in their relationship (with all cards now on the table), Helen worrying about Jason digging into their family’s buried secrets, and the return of Carolina and Yoli’s father (played by Adrian Pasdar).
