With Ezra potentially taking on the persona of The Doctor, he was becoming “like Max’s character, [who is] in love with the life, the job, the con,” executive producer Adam Brooks told TVLine. “[Ezra was] going to investigate if there’s a version of himself that can do that,” but would find that “it’s much more complicated than he thinks.” Speaking of complications, there were plenty in store for Ezra and his ex Maddie, who was arrested for killing The Doctor (who was actually offed by Sally). “Does Maddie get charged with murder? Do they actually have proof that she murdered him? And does Sophia become a linchpin in all that?” EP Paul Adelstein teased. Meanwhile, Richard, Jules and Ezra would have had “a lot to unpack” when reunited six months later.
