The supernatural drama was given a two-hour sendoff to tie up loose ends, but co-showrunner Todd Slavkin wished he had more time to flesh things out. For example, the gang’s quest to save Magnus from Edom would have been expanded into a “multi-episode journey”; Luke would have returned to the Institute as a Shadowhunter, teeing up “a whole shake-up”; Jonathan would have lived “much longer,” allowing him to raise more hell on earth; and the “perverse, sexualized relationship” between Jonathan and the Seelie Queen would have been stretched into a half-season arc. Big plans were also in motion for new couple Helen and Aline, including the introduction of the former’s family. “She is the oldest of four,” Slavkin notes. “She has a whole group of brothers and sisters we could have met.”
