he sci-fi series ended with Admiral Burnham taking the retrofitted U.S.S. Discovery out to deep space one last time, where it would wait for a thousand years before someone else found it. That was a nod to the Star Trek: Short Treks episode “Calypso,” in which Craft (played by Aldis Hodge) beamed aboard the abandoned ship in the distant future. Showrunner Michelle Paradise told Variety that the Calypso story would have been a significant part of Season 6. “The story, nascent as it was, was eventually going to be tying that thread up and connecting Discovery back with ‘Calypso,’” she said.
