Ahead of the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff’s finale, showrunners Peter Paige and Zoanne Clack disclosed to TVLine that some of the Easter eggs that were planted in the episode’s visions of the future were once destined to hatch. Foremost among them? Merle Dandridge’s Ross becoming mayor of Seattle. In more concrete flash-forwards, we learned that Andy became Seattle’s fire chief and Maya, Station 19’s captain.

Grey Damon’s embattled Jack had been destined to get a happy new beginning, too; there just wasn’t time to include a glimpse of it. “I really loved Jack’s endgame being him heading a foster home for kids,” Clack told us, “but we couldn’t fit that in as a separate moment.”
