Hulu’s alt-history comedy ended its third season with Elle Fanning’s Catherine dancing triumphantly to AC/DC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long” after mourning the death of her husband Peter. But that wasn’t intended to be the show’s final image, series creator Tony McNamara told EW.com: “For me, it’s not an ending. It’s a rebirth in a way for her as a character. She hasn’t ruled by herself yet… Even the grief of him colored everything she did.
